Paid Search Strategist

Job Description

We are an internet marketing agency based in Northern NJ, working with small, medium, and large home service businesses and franchises to optimize their paid, local, and organic performance on Google and Bing. A core focus of our work is managing and scaling high-performing Google Ads campaigns—leveraging smart bidding strategies, advanced targeting, and continuous A/B testing to maximize lead generation and conversion. In addition to campaign management, we’re developing tools to better connect the dots between strategy, data, and return on ad spend (ROAS), giving our clients deeper insight into what’s driving real growth.

This position offers full remote flexibility, with the option to work from our Pompton Plains, NJ office if preferred. You’ll manage key accounts and play a hands-on role in helping each client generate hundreds of new customers each month through performance-driven search advertising.

Core Job Responsibilities

  1. Manage search campaigns on Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising, including keyword research, ad copy testing, bid management, and advanced strategies like smart bidding strategies, automated rules, and geo-targeting, while optimizing for key metrics such as conversion rate, cost/conv, ROI, and ROAS.
  2. Proactively recommend and implement optimization strategies to improve lead volume and uncover new growth opportunities through campaign optimization, budget adjustments, and targeting refinements.
  3. Continuously track key performance metrics (e.g., impressions, clicks, conversions, and ROAS) and identify anomalies or areas of underperformance.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as SEO, website content & Google Business Profile teams
  5. Participate in weekly and monthly client meetings to provide detailed KPIs and action items.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience with Google Search Ads (preferably for home services).
  • Experience using advanced PPC strategies such as smart bidding & automated rules, geo-targeting & audience segmentation, and A/B testing & conversion rate optimization.
  • Strong understanding of key performance metrics including CPC, CTR, Quality Score, Conversion Rate, Cost/conv, ROI, and ROAS.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities with excellent time management.
  • Comfortable working with data: analyzing trends, spotting issues, and translating findings into actionable strategies.
  • Proficient in Google Editor & Google Workspace Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Slides etc).
  • Experience with Looker Studio or other reporting tools is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills—you can clearly explain campaign results and strategies to team members and clients.
  • Bonus Qualification: Additional knowledge of Performance Max (PMax), Demand Gen & Youtube Ads is a plus.
  • Bonus Qualification: Audience management (contextual, look-alikes, affinity groups for targeting).

The ideal candidate is someone with at least 2 years of Google Ads experience. They enjoy testing new PPC strategies and analyzing the trends they produce. They are adept at working with numbers and spreadsheets, and can easily recognize trends in statistics over time. They can turn them into actionable items that drive growth. They can turn a challenging customer into a raving fan. They are self-driven and motivated by setting goals and getting results.
